This is a Danger Sign, Deaths in Jakarta Rise Very High

Jakarta

The death rate due to COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta continues to increase. According to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, this is a sign of danger.

Anies initially said that yesterday, Saturday (3/7), the number of funerals with the COVID-19 protocol broke the previous record. There are 392 people buried according to the COVID-19 protocol.

“Yesterday, the number of funeral services for COVID protocols reached a record, 392 funerals were carried out,” he said Anies, at the Bogor Highway Blocking Post, East Jakarta, Sunday (4/7/2021).

According to Anies, this shows a sharp increase in the number of deaths in DKI Jakarta. Anies also stressed that this continuous increase is a sign of danger.

“But adding graves, increasing the number of people buried is a sign of danger for all. That the number of deaths in Jakarta has increased very high,” said Anies.

The former Minister of Education and Culture explained that at the beginning of June, the death rate was still below 20 people every day. But now, in the past week, the death toll has reached the 300s.

“(Deaths in) the last one week above 250, 304, 301, 362, 392 people. These are people who two weeks before were still healthy,” he said.

Therefore, Anies asked the public to stay at home. He said, the death rate that continues to increase every day is not something to be proud of.

“We don’t want to bury more of our brothers and sisters. We want those who are in the hospital to be able to go home, those who are not exposed now don’t get exposed,” he said.

“The way is simple, stay away from crowds, stay away from traveling, stay at home until conditions are under control, that’s all,” said Anies.
