López Obrador warned that the third wave of COVID-19 infections in Mexico is “of less intensity” than the previous two

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that the third wave of infections by COVID-19 in Mexico it is of less intensity than the previous two.

At the morning conference held from the state of Veracruz, the Mexican president explained that this new wave of infections by coronavirus in the country it affects the youngest, in addition to the fact that there are fewer hospitalized for the disease.

There is a kind of outbreak, a third wave of infections, not the same as the first, the second wave, it is of less intensity and also less harmful because we have fewer hospitalizations and most important of all, fewer deaths, “he said.

“It is a re-outbreak that is affecting young people more and this has a lot to do with it because the adult population is already vaccinated. This shows that the strategy of vaccinating older adults first was adequate ”, he argued.

Lopez Obrador assured that vaccination against the COVID-19 in the country to protect the population against the virus.

We are already intensifying vaccination because there is no other alternative, there is no other option to face the virus, the best thing is the vaccine that we must be very clear about, if we are vaccinated we are protected. Even being vaccinated we can become infected, but we resist, we do not get worse. We are vaccinated more than ever, “he said.

“We are going to fulfill the purpose that by October all Mexicans over 18 years of age will still be vaccinated with a single dose. We want to reach 50 percent, to see if before the end of the month we are at 50 percent of vaccination for those over 18 years of age, he declared.

President López Obrador announced that vaccination will be accelerated for all adults in municipalities of Veracruz, Puebla, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas.

The Ministry of Health reported this Sunday 108 new deaths from COVID-19 to total 238 thousand 424, in addition to adding six thousand 535 infections, which accumulates two million 748 thousand 518.

The Government also exceeded the 60 million vaccines applied against the coronavirus this day SARS-CoV-2.

Mexico registered these figures in the middle of the third wave of infections and after four consecutive days with increases of more than 15 thousand new cases, levels not seen since January, during the most critical period of the pandemic in the country.
