The association is trying to persuade the supporters to refrain from reimbursement until January 28th, like the Cologne review reported on Wednesday.

“We’re getting into a phase where we can’t stand it for long economically. The damage is enormous,” said FC Managing Director Alexander Wehrle.

“Nobody tells us that the stadiums will continue to be full from spring.”

As the newspaper reports, season ticket holders had already waived a refund of 8.6 million euros in the first 18 months of the corona pandemic.

Overall, the corona-related loss of sales reached almost 85 million.

In every home game without spectators, 1. FC Köln loses around 1.8 million euros. With around 111,000 members, the club is the third largest club in the world Bundesliga.

“We will have to send employees on short-time work again,” said Wehrle.

The 46-year-old spoke out in favor of at least 25 percent of the viewers being admitted in the first step and, above all, of a uniform solution.

The managing director is also worried about the future of the industry. “I can already see the danger that we will lose generations. Young people who can no longer experience their stars, their role models up close.”
