Throughout its history, Thionville has been visited by several French heads of state. From Raymond Poincaré in 1920 to Georges Pompidou in 1972, some did not fail to stop in the former iron metropolis. Raymond Poincaré went to Thionville twice. A first time on August 23, 1919, then on February 15, 1920, to give the City, in the name of France, the cross of the Legion of Honor.
