Gabriel GIACOMETTI : ” Yes. The activities of Claude-Bernard Metz and Notre-Dame Thionville will be 100% grouped together in Maizières. We still want to keep an advanced consultation in Thionville for our practitioners. We are working on setting up a medical center in the Thionville area. We have several tracks but they are still too fragile. We have three years to finalize the project. “

Wasn’t it possible to maintain an activity on the Thionville site?

” No. Today, at Notre-Dame, we do not have the authorizations for certain surgical acts and we are therefore quite limited in our activities. These are activities that do not involve critical care. And beyond that, the era is in the regrouping of technical platforms. Our outpatient rate being over 85%, the pattern for our patient from Moselle north would be as follows: first auscultated in Thionville, operated on in Maizières, then return home during the day. “

Do you plan to attract more patients from Moselle Nord with the new hospital?

“We already have a lot of patients from northern Moselle who come to Metz for oncology and cardiovascular surgery, for example. By positioning ourselves in Maizières, we will undoubtedly get closer to a patient population that escapes us. Currently, our Emergency Department accounts for 25,000 visits per year. At Maizières, the service will be sized for 40,000 passages. ”

What will become of the premises of the Notre-Dame clinic?

“I don’t know because we are not owners. They know that we have a reconstruction project, and I plan to meet them soon. The buildings are in good condition. There is a part dating from the beginning of the 20th century and another more recent. “
