The project was born in 2016 in the header of Dr Daniel Anastasio, then head of the dentistry department of CHR Metz-Thionville: to open a specific dental care department dedicated to vulnerable people, that is, those with cognitive or behavioral disorders. People who have a hard time pushing the doors of a traditional dental office. Inaugurated on 8 September at the Bel-Air hospital, this new Specific Oral Hygiene Unit (Usos), of the Regional Hospital Center, was inaugurated on Wednesday 28 September in conjunction with the Oral Surgery and Dental Care Unit. It is managed by Drs Cédric Seckinger (head of department), Régis Fort and Mathieu Mogenot, both coordinators of the unit.
