The director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES) of Spain returned to alert the population due to the increase in cases of coronavirus in the country. “Make no mistake, things are not going well. We have more transmission every day, ”said Fernando Simón at a press conference on Thursday, quoted by the newspaper“ El Economista ”.
The specialist from the Spanish Ministry of Health explained that the fact that many cases have been detected does not mean that there is no transmission, not least because the characteristics of the cases and the system overload are different and as such the country continues to have a significant transmission.
“I have been saying for many weeks that this is not over, but I have the impression that I was not clear enough. I think I should say clearly that we have to do better ”, he stressed.
Fernando Simón stressed that, as cases increase, so will hospitalized patients, and he took the opportunity to leave a message for the youngest and the problem of the so-called ‘nightlife’. “There are ways to have fun without putting anyone at risk. I understand that people want to party, but there are ways and ways. We must make people aware of what to do ”.
According to data from the epidemiologist, 118,500 suspected cases were detected in the last week, with 1,361 imported cases recorded since May 11, 149 of which in the last week. The mortality rate is currently at 0.4%.
