Paraguayan volunteer patients will be part of the phase 3 study of the anti-Covid vaccines that are being developed by the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Asuncion (FCM-UNA) and the Taiwanese laboratory Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corporation (MVC), with the support of the embassy of Taiwan.

In addition, the work is coordinated with authorities of the Ministry of Public Health, through the National Directorate of Sanitary Surveillance and the Expanded Program on Immunization (PAI).
To report on the start of patient recruitment, among other details, Professor Osmar Cuenca Torres, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the UNA, together with the embassy of Taiwan and Medigen, call a press conference for this Friday , at 10:00 am, in the meeting room of the General Healthcare Directorate, second floor of the Internees Building of the Hospital de Clínicas.
Phase 3 of the vaccine against Covid-19, MVCCOV 1901, will be carried out with the aim of testing safety, tolerability and immunogenicity, reported from the institutions responsible for its development in Paraguay.
Phase 3 studies are the last stage before any pharmaceutical product can apply for a license by the regulators for its widespread use in the population.
