They were selling fake buffalo mozzarella abroad: 3 entrepreneurs in trouble

They would sell in Italia and abroad – France e Austria – mozzarella produced mainly with cow’s milk passing it off as buffalo mozzarella from Campania DOP. This is what was alleged against three entrepreneurs from Caserta, who were notified by the Carabinieri of Vitulazio of the precautionary measure of the residence ban in the province of Caserta issued by the investigating judge of the court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere for crimes of aggravated fraud in the exercise of commerce.

From the investigations, carried out by the Carabinieri of Vitulazio and those of the Agri-food Protection Department of Salerno and coordinated by the Sammaritan Public Prosecutor’s Office led by Pierpaolo Bruniit emerged that on the labels of the product packaging there was the wording mozzarella di bufala campana dop with the indication of its use 100% buffalo milk, as required by national and community regulations and production specifications; however, product analyzes ascertained that the mozzarella was made with a mixture of buffalo and cow’s milk, with the latter often prevailing over the former. The counterfeit mozzarella was distributed to dairies in northern and southern Italy, Austria and France.
