From this account, in the southern regions of the national territory the clouds will remain, so during the afternoon and night the presence of rain is expected; while in the central highlands scattered clouds are expected with possible rains to the south of the region.

For this reason, INSIVUMEH awaits the report of few clouds during the morning and dispersed clouds in the afternoon. It is not ruled out that at night and early morning the cold continues to impact the western and central highlands.

About the temperature and climate in Guatemala

On the other hand, the entity announced that in the sector of the bocacosta and the west, areas with fog are expected at dawn. Also, warm atmosphere and scattered rains accompanied by electrical activity.

In this sense, the population residing in Huehuetenango and San Marcos is recommended to bundle up. Also to shelter the animals at night and early morning.

In addition, in Quetzaltenango, Totonicapán, Sololá and Chimaltenango there will be low temperatures during the night and early morning, which will cause a cold thermal sensation.

On the other hand, in Petén, Zacapa, Chiquimula and the Pacific region, a very warm environment is expected during the day, with maximum temperatures between 34 and 39 degrees Celsius.

Given this, they recommend avoiding, as far as possible, prolonged exposure under the sun between 10:00 and 16:00.

weather frost

INSIVUMEH highlighted that in San Marcos and Huehuetenango there will be temperatures below 2 degrees, so it is not ruled out that they will persist for several consecutive days.

Even the presence of ice and weather effects on plants are not ruled out, causing hardening in their tissues and organs and extracellular freezing.

Likewise, in Quetzaltenango, Totonicapán, Sololá and the northwest of Chimaltenango, temperatures equal to or less than zero degrees are expected, generating freezing in plants and humidity in the environment. This could cause negative effects on the health of people, animals, plants and crops sensitive to low temperatures, decreasing the physiological activity of plants and their yields.

Therefore, they recommend that the population take safeguard measures to counteract the effects that weather conditions may cause. [Tomado de AGN]
