(CRHoy.com) -The deputy Jose Maria Villalta, of the Broad Front (FA), proposed to allocate a 10% of the resources of three international credits processed by the Legislative Assembly to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).

The legislator presented two motions whose purpose is to ensure that of the international loans in progress that percentage is allocated to the Fund, as part of the payment of the historical debt that the State maintains with the institution and that exceeds ¢ 1.95 billion.

“Last year, the Government got engaged to allocate at least 10% of the amounts of international credits to pay that debt. With these motions we seek to honor that commitment, ”said Villalta.

This is the credit subscribed by the Government with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for $ 1,778 million and another two negotiated with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRF) that add up to $ 600 million.

However, he explained that, as the bills are drafted at this time, only 10% of the credit goes to the IBRD, that is, $ 30 million.

If 10% were applied to all three loans, CCSS would receive more than $ 237 million.

“This money is essential for the financial balance of the CCSS that had been beaten since before the pandemic and it got worse with her. We hope to have the support of other fractions, since we cannot allow a single colon to be missing from the social Security and health services ”, added the congressman.
