Armando Manzanero is slowly recovering from covid-19.

According to his daughter, María Elena Manzanero, the singer was finally able to be changed position in his intensive care bed to lie on his back, after having trouble breathing.

Armando Manzanero was admitted to a local hospital on the night of Wednesday, December 16, presenting symptoms of coronavirus.

“He is uncomfortable being alone,” said María Elena Manzanero in an interview with the television program Windowing, “But it is positive (and it says) that we are going to go to the beach, that we do not worry”.

María Elena commented that her father’s oxygenation improved over the weekend, reaching 94, “which is excellent,” she said.

Although the Yucatecan composer is still hospitalized in the sector reserved for coronavirus patients, “if we continue like this, it is a matter of days before he is transferred to an area that is not restricted by covid-19,” said María Elena.

The 85-year-old Armando Manzanero is one of the most internationally recognized artists in his country. Among the more than 400 songs he composed, boleros stand out such as “Somos novios”, “This afternoon I saw it rain” and “With you I learned.”
