They launched the largest Czech charging station for electric cars in Lovosice

Four fast charging stations with an output of 350 kW are operated by Ionity, another eight 225kW by Tesla and four 22kW by the town of Lovosice.

The condition for the creation of charging stations is always the proximity of the highway and service. Lovosice is located directly on the D8 motorway and opposite the stands there is a café with a 24-hour service.

“The power plant in Píšťany on the other bank of the Elbe is a great source of energy. Thus, clean cars can be recharged with clean energy, ”said Jakub Helus, technical director of RenoEnergie, which owns the hydroelectric power plant and develops the project. The costs for the implementation of the project amounted to approximately 15 million crowns.

In the event of a one-time production outage in a small hydroelectric power plant, the charging hub has a backup mains supply ready.

“Thanks to cooperation with the city and other companies, everything went without subsidies,” said Helus. At the fast station, the car is 80 percent charged in about 25 minutes. Slow stations serve city dwellers, who leave cars connected overnight.

According to Miroslav Holan, head of strategy development and the Škoda Auto sales network, a sufficient number of charging stations is a condition for the development of electromobility. “In 2030, 35,000 charging points are to be active, speed, location and the way to them are key. So that the car knows in real time where it will be charged, “said Holan.

In its National Action Plan, the Ministry of Transport expects approximately 220,000 to 500,000 registered passenger cars in 2030. Their total annual electricity consumption is estimated at 430 to 860 gigawatt-hours (GWh). The power plant in Píšťany has an output of almost three megawatts (MW) and runs almost continuously.

“We estimate that we have the opportunity to cover about a third of electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2030. The biggest obstacle to development is the long approval processes. The path to cheaper energy leads through a larger volume of renewable energy in the network, “said the chairman of the Chamber of Renewable Energy Sources Štěpán Chalupa.

In the future, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Eduard Muřický, the municipality and the city will be obliged to have a third of vehicles with a minimum emission footprint of 50 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per 100 kilometers in their fleet.

“Because these cars will be more expensive, the state should help with subsidies and those subsidies are ready. We are directing the main source to public transport, where most subsidies will go. In total, we have calculated it to be about 33 billion crowns by 2030, six billion should go to subsidies for infrastructure, “said Muřický.
