After finding cause for his arrest, former boxer Daniel Santos was admitted yesterday to the Bayamón regional prison.
Colonel José Juan García, San Juan area commander, indicated that Santos was arrested for alleged damage to four vehicles at a car dealership in Puerto Nuevo.
The plaintiff alleges that Santos caused damage yesterday to Maserati, Honda Accord, Porsche Cayman and BMW cars.
According to García, damage estimate reached $ 100,000.
He added that, according to the information provided by the officers who investigated the case, Santos initially went to the Eurowheels dealership claiming that he was going to look for his car, for which he allegedly had a “beeper”.
“Enter the dealership, even though it was closed. There were only a few maintenance employees. Start hitting cars. Employees get him to go and call the police“Garcia said.
He added that “when the police are already there, (Santos) arrives again, in an aggressive attitude and the police stop him. One of them warns him that he is going to use the electronic device (“teaser”) and hits him on the back“
“(Santos) starts moving again and the other (police) also uses his device, but (Santos) he is going to run, until they manage to arrest him. When other units arrive and overtake him, he desists to flee and is placed under arrest.“he added.
Garcia also noted that in a vehicle that Santos had parked in the area, officers occupied “a bag” of cocaine.
Then, in court, he was charged with violations of the Controlled Substances Act and property damage.
Given the evidence presented, the court dismissed the drug charge and found cause for the damages, for which he imposed a bond of $ 10,000.
Not being borrowed, he was placed in jail until the preliminary hearing.
