MORELIA, Mich., June 28, 2021.- Morelia residents between 18 and 39 years old could be vaccinated against the coronavirus (Covid 19) in a single immunization campaign, to be carried out in the following weeks, said Mónica Erandi Ayala García, Secretary of the City Council.
Although the preliminary programming of the age groups to be vaccinated against Covid 19 in Morelia established that after attending the 40-49-year-old segment, currently in progress, the vials would be applied to people 30-39 years old , Ayala García did not rule out that, similar to what has been observed in other parts of the country, a broader call is chosen.
This would imply calling the residents of the Michoacan capital between 18 and 39 years of age to the vaccination centers, instead of segmenting the recruitment of citizens to first receive those between 30 and 39 years of age.
The secretary of the City Council recognized that the possibility that the logistics of the vaccination centers is exceeded by the influx of people interested in obtaining the biological has made that this determination should be evaluated by the State Vaccination Committee.
For the age group of 40 to 49 years, in the first days of the vaccination campaign, record figures of up to 18 thousand people were reached per day, in a single immunization point, with which they considered that “we did well”.
However, it has not been decided whether for the successive segments the tendency to reduce the number of vaccination points enabled will continue, which went from up to 13, for adults over 60 years of age, to one, available for adults from 40 to 49 years.
He reiterated that the municipality will be able to provide spaces, such as the Digital Polyforum, to carry out the application of the vials, if so agreed by the State Vaccination Committee.
