They denounce that the lack of confinement in Chile does not follow indications of the WHO

The plan Step by Step of the government and the announcement of the passage to the so-called Transition in various communes of the country they have raised many doubts.

Is that the beginning of the return to the “New normal” product of the coronavirus pandemic It is classified as something hasty, because it is feared that there will be outbreaks and more infections and deaths due to the covid-19.

And therefore from the National Federation of Nurses Associations of Chile (Fenasenf) they sent a letter to Minister of Health Enrique Paris, arguing that the de-escalation lacks specific protocols, that there is a lack of clear information for the community in general and that it does not coincide with the indications recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

From the union body added that “The WHO recommendation is to initiate phase one deconfusion with 80% occupancy of intensive care units. And in Chile we will start when there is still 90%. And the first phase will be 15% positive, when the WHO recommends 5% ”.

They added that what was announced corresponds to “A program that responds to indications given by the authorities at the central level, without considering the different realities that are lived in the regions, which lacks the opinion of local social and health actors”.

In the letter they specified from the Fenasenf that lack of confinement must be carried out through epidemiological indicators, the criteria for which must be very rigorous, progressive and controlled for effective progress and with minimal risk of setback.

In the same way, they highlighted that a great question is how the common spaces in schools (for example, bathrooms and dining rooms) will be managed to avoid an outbreak in schoolchildren who will return to class.

“We are concerned that triumphalism endangers the health and lives of individuals, so we maintain our commitment, today even more strongly, to work for the public health of our country”, closes the letter.

It should be remembered that one of the members of the Covid-19 Advisory Committee of the Minsal, the epidemiologist Catterina Ferreccio, indicated that they did not advise the Government to go to the Transition in the Metropolitan region and that experts have been more cautious than authorities.
