This is the list that has been talked about in Strasbourg since Tuesday evening. The city of Strasbourg has sent traders a list of products which the sale at the Strasbourg Christmas market will be prohibited. A rather surprising and arbitrary list that was emailed to non-sedentary and trade show traders on October 5th.
Here is the list of affected products:
– Food products prohibited for sale : champagne, tartiflette, popcorn, Christmas donuts, grilled chicken, raclette.
– Food products authorized for sale and subject to : gingerbread liqueur, hot beer, Christmas grog, fir liqueur grog, sandwiches, hot dogs, Italian products (savory and sweet), samosa, Turkish delight, halva, chocolate gourmeline (donuts, in fact, but not donuts, forbidden, them, editor’s note).
– The sale of non-food products is prohibited : headbands, Christmas boots, umbrellas, wicker items, ponchos, caps, Christmas items for dogs and cats.
– The sale of non-food products with reservations is prohibited : Ashtrays, bottle openers, table boards, children’s designer clothes, Christmas tie, JC’s cross (a crucifix), water globe (with snow when you shake it), Christmas posters, postcards, calendars, mouse pads, toothpaste and cleaning products (with soap scraps)
For the moment, the municipality of Strasbourg has not provided details: will these products be permanently banned? Who will be subject to the definition?
