The rapid spread of the coronavirus means for bridal couples that they cannot celebrate their most beautiful day as planned. Many weddings are therefore postponed or canceled. But there are also couples who get married in a creative way.
For example, Berdien and Gerke Wassenaar got married this weekend in their own garden in Surhuizum, in the presence of eleven guests. “It was very clear to us that we wanted to get married on this day. A nice date, at the beginning of spring. And more importantly, I am now 28 weeks pregnant. If we would wait longer, getting married before giving birth would not be more to happen, “says Berdien.
Originally, the couple would get married at the town hall and then dine with their guests. Due to the closure of the catering industry, that was not possible. “We had to switch gears five days in advance. Gerke was very disappointed that things couldn’t go as planned. But we live beautifully and had everything in-house, so we knew we were going for it.”
