These are the sectors and industries that can be reopened

Surinamese President Santokhi has stated in a statement today that the process is safe New Normal has been deployed. The protocols for the different sectors have been developed in consultation and will be implemented.

Concrete agreements have been made with the following sectors and branches to reopen under the applicable regulations in the protocols:

recreation resorts; casinos; gambling and entertainment venues; gambling offices; gyms, yoga dance schools, aerobics, zumba, sports and fitness centers or facilities; contact professions, such as within physiotherapists, hair salons, hairdressers and barbershops and markets. Here too, strict compliance with the regulations applies.

“We are starting with the period ahead and will monitor closely if these protocols are followed. We will do the evaluation at the end of the week and make adjustments where necessary, ”said the president.

The other measures:

Measure 1
The weekend lock-down will be lifted. However, the nightlife ban from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. remains in effect. Outside of curfew times, the following measures apply:

Measure 2
Land, water and air borders will remain closed to people unless permission is granted for urgent reasons by the Covid-19 Crisis Management Team.

Measure 3
The checkpoints for movement of persons at various locations will be maintained.

Measure 4
The educational process is started in compliance with the Covid-19 prevention protocols developed by the Ministry.

Measure 5
The gathering prohibition is valid for groups larger than ten people. It is prohibited to hold parties, including house parties. No dispensations will be granted.

Measure 6
Meetings for funerals, funerals and religious gatherings are permitted only if and insofar as no more than 50 (fifty) persons are present at the same time and in compliance with the regulations.

Measure 7
Outdoor sports activities may take place normally, subject to the regulations; it remains unimpaired that contact sports are not allowed.

Measure 8
The transport of persons by means of public transport by road or water is only permitted with due observance of the public transport protocol. Compliance with and enforcement of the Public Transport Protocol will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Tourism.

Measure 9
Nightclubs, dance halls, discotheques and the like, but also brothels and bars will remain closed.

Measure 10
Restaurants and other commercial food preparation and delivery venues are open for takeout or delivery only provided they have outdoor terraces.
