Instagram is testing a new feature that will allow users to share their thoughts with their friends in text form. A change could make the feature even more interesting.
Instagram is testing another feature that could make communication between friends on the platform easier. The so-called Notes allow users to share their thoughts with several people at once instead of via DM. There are two options here: Users can share the notes with those followers they follow themselves. Alternatively, they can select their “Close Friends” list and only share their Notes with those people. The feature was shared on Twitter by social media experts Ahmed Ghanem and Matt Navarra.

Can users only share text notes?
The new feature will appear in the chat section of the app just above recent conversations. Users are shown the option “Leave a note” and the note “Share a thought for people to see here”. The screenshots indicate that users can only share text messages with a length of up to 60 characters.
In this form, the Instagram Notes are reminiscent of the WhatsApp info status (there was also an interesting innovation for this recently). The feature could become even more attractive with the option of not only integrating text, but also photos and videos, for example, into the Notes. A few months ago, Instagram was already testing a new feature called Boards – a kind of collaborative design project. This could be even more interesting for users than the Notes feature, since the boards can be edited together with other users.
Now we have to wait and see if and when โ and in what form โ the Notes function will be rolled out for all users. What do you think of the feature? would you use it Write it to us in the comments.
