Last year we saw many films and series on Netflix. We list the best series and films in our opinion.
2021 was a special year for Netflix. The corona pandemic is still continuing and that also affects films and series. But which are the best of the year in our opinion? We put five special titles from streamingdienst on a row.
Squid Game
Squid Game is perhaps the most notable series of the year. Even Netflix never dreamed that the Korean title would knock all other series off the throne. In the show we see a game of life and death where the winner takes off with a big prize. At the same time, the series shows a major social problem in South Korea. The series is getting rave reviews and has arguably one of the most impressive episodes ever seen in a series.
Lupin
France has a new old hero: Lupin. Omar Sy won many hearts with his role as a charming master thief. In the show, we see how he takes revenge on the man who he believes is behind his father’s suicide. The series is a rollercoaster of exciting moments. Of course, the heart of Paris is one of the most beautiful sets you can have for a series. The series has been a masterstroke for Netflix.
Maid
This special miniseries from Netflix knows how to score high with a wide audience. The story is about a young mother who gets out of an abusive relationship. We see how she does everything she can to give her child a better future and tries to escape from the problems of the past.

Sex Education season 3
With each sequel of a series, the question is whether it can be as good as the previous parts. The makers of Sex Education however, managed to put in an even better performance by making an even better part than the previous seasons. We empathize even more with the main characters in season 3. Also, the attention is more focused on the other characters than Otis alone, which ensures that even more stories can be told.
La Casa de Papel season 5
All good things come to an end and so do they The Money Heist. Netflix and the creators have chosen just the right time to stop. If the series had gone on any longer, it would have been chewed up. Now the makers are popping with a spectacular ending that provides satisfaction. The makers also showed earlier that they have no qualms about letting important characters die. Something that shows the power of a good story.

The Witcher seizoen 2
We conclude this list with the Netflix series that most people have probably been looking forward to all year. The Witcher should become Netflix’s showpiece and the second season does not disappoint. The series has even more depth and we finally see a bit more of what goes on in Geralt’s head. The series has a little more depth, while the familiar action is certainly not lost.
