These are Programs to Boost Realization of Government Spending

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government is focused on accelerating the budget realization of strategic programs to handle Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (PEN) as well as programs in ministries / agencies.

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, said that this step was taken to accelerate Indonesia’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, one of the steps to realize this is through accelerating the realization government spending and short-term strategic programs to accelerate budget realization.

Acceleration of government spending is believed to drive economic growth in the third quarter of 2020 and economic growth in 2020.

“Do not forget, we also prepare a monitoring and evaluation system which is routine and coordination is regularly carried out to accelerate the realization of this expenditure,” he said, in a written statement, quoted on Friday (21/8/2020).

Furthermore, Airlangga explained, programs that are being prepared to boost budget absorption include regulated regional PEN loans, additional regional incentive funds (DID) for the PEN program, the labor-intensive program for smallholder oil palm rejuvenation (PSR).

The government is also preparing the development of digital villages and digital MSMEs, increasing the quota for pre-employment card program allocations, spending movement programs in people’s markets, and labor-intensive programs in the development of National Strategic Projects (PSN).

Meanwhile, a number of ministries and institutions also submitted several program proposals, namely, the Proud Program Made in Indonesia, the Buy Rubber for Asphalt 2020-2021 Program, the Buying Program for Small and Medium Industry Raw Materials, the Buy (Discount) Program for MSME Products, the Buying People’s Products Program through Pegadaian, as well as the Tourism Buffer Solid Work Program.

“The program proposals are submitted because they meet the criteria, promote economic recovery, have a significant impact on the absorption of workers (labor intensive), as well as share economic growth, and the value of the program is quite large, “said Airlangga.
