TASS, May 12. Five people were victims of a fire in the intensive care unit at St. George’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. This was reported to TASS on Tuesday in emergency services.
“Five patients connected to mechanical ventilation died in a fire,” the source said.
At the moment, the fire is localized. “Its area was 10 square meters,” TASS was told in the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. As a result of the fire, there are victims, the ministry confirmed, without specifying their number.
Since mid-March, St. George’s Hospital was one of the first in St. Petersburg to be completely redesigned into an infectious diseases hospital. All of her medical staff is engaged in providing emergency medical care only to patients with acute respiratory viral infections and pneumonia, which are caused, among other things, by a new coronavirus infection.
