Commission I DPR will conduct a due diligence or fit and proper test to ambassador candidate proposed by the President. The feasibility test will be carried out in July.

“God willing, Commission I will carry out fit and proper test the second week of July,” said Chairman of Commission I, Meutya Hafid, to reporters, Friday (25/6/2021).

The list of names of potential ambassadors is circulating. There are 32 names in total. From that name, there is the Chairman of Kadin Rosan Roeslani for the United States to the spokesperson for the President of the Republic of Indonesia Fadjroel Rachman. Meutya said the president’s letter was confidential, but reportedly the names listed in the letter came in.

“The president’s letter is confidential. So I can’t open it. However, it’s been reported that the names above came in,” said Meutya.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of Commission I Abdul Kharis said about the mechanism fit and proper test it will be discussed next Monday.

Previously, the DPR had several times received presidential letters (surpres) regarding the nomination of ambassadors. The last letter was received on 7 June 2021 regarding the request for consideration of the nomination of an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador from a friendly country to Indonesia.
