“Around 5:30 pm I received a call from the pilot (…) from Heli Austria. to inquire about permission to take extinguishing water from our lake, which he did and was of course allowed to do around 6 p.m. Buckets are much too small for the pools in Payerbach, and the intake at the lake is much faster, even if it has to fly a little further, ”says Friedrich Bleier, lake owner and operator of“ Marias Land ”in Rohrbachgraben near Puchberg. Shortly afterwards, the pilot called again and told Bleier that “he had heard over the radio from a colleague that the BH Neunkirchen had issued a ban on Austrian helicopters not being allowed to take water from our lake,” which surprised Lead.
BH emphasizes: “There is neither a command nor a prohibition.”
Working against each other in this situation is counterproductive from Bleier’s point of view. When asked by the regional media, BH Neunkirchen stated that there were no prohibitions or requirements in such a situation. The fire brigade was mentioned here because it is responsible for coordinating forest fire operations and deciding on the extinguishing strategy to be used.
