There is an LTE mobile signal in Chodov and Háje metro stations

Until the end of November, the LTE signal will also cover the Opatov station on line C and the Národní třída and Náměstí Republiky stations on route B. After the signal is extended, the high-speed network will be available to passengers on line C Bohemian-Moravian.

According to the DPP, passengers will also see the LTE network at the Náměstí Míru, Nové Butovice and Hůrka stations in December. Next year, it is planned to expand the network to the Flora, Radlická and Jinonice stations.

All three operators, ie O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone, and with them CETIN, participate in the coverage. Last year, the DPP Supervisory Board approved a 20-year contract with the consortium, where the operators will pay 120 million crowns to the transport company for the first ten years.

According to earlier information from the consortium, the metro is to be completely covered by a signal in 2022. According to the statement of DPP director Petr Witowski from August this year, the 5G network could also be in the metro in the future.

“In cooperation with operators, we want to expand the latest technology into the entire Prague metro network, which is currently a high-speed LTE network, and in the future also 5G,” said Witowski.

The Transport Company of the Capital is the largest carrier providing public transport in the Czech Republic. It carried 1.17 billion passengers last year. The company employs over 11,000 people and the sole shareholder is the city of Prague.
