There is a lack of students to maintain adult education in Port-Cartier

The Center de formation professionnelle et générale de Sept-Îles is suspending adult education services in Port-Cartier, which only accumulate the equivalent of four full-time registrations. This is too little to offer quality education, says director Claire Barriault.

The decline in adult education clientele is also evident in Sept-Îles and throughout Quebec. In Port-Cartier, the offer of services to adults has not changed and vocational training is maintained.

Adult education has already gathered around twenty full-time students and has been maintained with 7 registrations. Young people in Port-Cartier are offered other services, including free transportation to Sept-Îles. Guidance, assessment and secretarial services remain available at CELA de Port-Cartier.

“The Port-Cartier adult education center is not closing. We remain available if the clientele increases. The student remains at the center of our concerns, ”says the director of the Vocational and General Training Center, Claire Barriault.
