There are concerns about the Bandar Village Fund Trench as a breeding ground for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito

The village fund ditch in 2022 Nagori Bandar Selamat, which the residents of Huta Sumber Sari fear as a breeding ground for dengue fever mosquitoes.

Simalungun, Lintangnews.com | The realization of the construction of a drainage ditch or leaning that was built by the Government of Nagori (Pemnag) Bandar Selamat, Dolok Batu Nanggar District, Simalungun Regency, was sourced from village funds in 2022.

This is because the water does not flow smoothly (stagnates in ditches). And it has the potential to become a breeding ground for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

Quoted from the page of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia, Aedes Aegypti is nothing but a type of mosquito that can carry the Dengue virus that causes dengue fever.

Besides dengue, the Aegypti mosquito is also a carrier of yellow fever, chikungunya, and even Zika fever caused by the Zika virus.

The exact cause of the flooding in the flood control ditch carried out by the Nagori Bandar Selamat Activity Management Team (TPK) is not yet known.

However, at first, the residents of Huta Sumber Sari felt grateful, because of the leaning project measuring 50 x 30 x 50 meters.

“The water doesn’t flow and is still stagnant, it has the potential to become a breeding ground for dengue fever mosquitoes. This project has just been completed, but not smoothly. While this activity is for flood control with a budget of IDR 41 million. We suspect that this project does not refer to technical instructions,” said a number of residents, Saturday (2/7/2022).
