There are 20 schools that repeat themselves in the ranking of the highest grade inflation

Despite the actions carried out by the General Inspection of Education (IGEC) in recent years, there are still several educational establishments that, year after year, show the greatest deviations between the grades that are given by their teachers and those that they obtain in exams. Between 2014/2015 it happened with 20, most of which are private (15) and are located in northern districts.

In the latest IGEC report on grade misalignment, the inspection counts 45 interventions since 2015, covering 39 schools: six schools have been operated twice. And the inspectors’ conclusion is that these actions have contributed to a decrease in the phenomenon of inflation of grades, at least in the interventional schools. Poor assessment practices are detected, IGEC can issue recommendations.

But there have also been cases of abnormally high grades awarded in the 12th that have given rise to disciplinary proceedings that are still ongoing. Since 2019, 57 have been opened, twenty of which are almost completed, with a proposal for a decision to be taken in order to condemn those targeted.

This year and as the grades given by teachers will have a greater weight in access to higher education – the weighting of exams will not be done for the calculation of the internal grade and will only count in the case of entrance exams -, the Ministry also sent the inspection goes to schools and audits the evaluation criteria of a selected sample of educational establishments.

As for the most accentuated lags between internal grades and exam results, these are, according to data on the Infoescolas portal, the ones that are repeated in the last five years:
