There are 17 more confirmed cases in the Algarve and 4 more in the Alentejo

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve has risen to 612, since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Sunday, 28 June.

Since yesterday, according to DGS data, there are 17 more confirmed cases in the Algarve region.

As for Alentejo, the bulletin points to 4 more new cases and one more death, that of a 82 year old lady, user of the Reguengos de Monsaraz home.

At the national level, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic is 41,646, 457 more than yesterday. A very significant part of these new cases – 391 – is registered in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, which thus concentrates 85.5% of new infections.

As for deaths, there are 3 more today than yesterday, bringing the cumulative total to 1564. These three deaths occurred in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (2) and Alentejo (1). In the Algarve, DGS maintains the same 15 deaths.

Data from the epidemiological bulletin further indicate that since yesterday and at the national level, there are 202 more recovered, bringing to 27,066 the number of people who have already recovered from Covid-19.

This Sunday, this is the distribution of cases by region, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic: Lisbon and Tagus Valley (18,752, plus 391), North (17,476, plus 31), Center (4094, plus 14), Algarve (612, 17 more), Alentejo (471, 4 more), Azores (149, no new cases) and Madeira (92, no new cases).

Today in the country’s hospitals, there are 458 people hospitalized, 16 more than yesterday, of which 75 are in intensive care (5 more).

Also according to the epidemiological bulletin, there are 1511 people awaiting laboratory results and there are 31,299 contacts under surveillance by health authorities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, there have been a total of 376,815 suspected cases, but 333,658 of them have not been confirmed.
