There are 14 new cases in the Algarve and 7 in the Alentejo

The Algarve has 14 new cases of Covid-19, while the Alentejo registers 7 more infected, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Wednesday, 1st of July.

After two consecutive cases with only three new cases, the Algarve region sees the number increase considerably. The Algarve now has, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 632 infected.

As for the Alentejo, it registers 7 new cases, increasing the total to 491. DGS does not yet account, in today’s bulletin, the most recent death, known already this Wednesday, and related to the outbreak in the Reguengos de Monsaraz.

At the national level, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic is 42,454, 313 more than yesterday.

As for deaths, there are three more today than yesterday, bringing the cumulative total to 1579. Of these deaths, two were in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and one in the North.

Data from the epidemiological bulletin further indicate that, since yesterday and at the national level, there are 293 more recovered, bringing to 27,798 the total number of people who are already recovering from Covid-19.

This Wednesday, this is the distribution of cases by region, in numbers accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic: Lisbon and Tagus Valley (19,383, plus 218), North (17,585, plus 64), Center (4121, plus 11) , Algarve (632, plus 14), Alentejo (491, plus 7), Azores (150, no new cases) and Madeira (92).

Today, in the country’s hospitals, 503 people are hospitalized, 12 more than yesterday, 79 of whom are in intensive care (6 more).

Also according to the epidemiological bulletin, there are 1450 people awaiting laboratory results and 31,389 contacts under surveillance by health authorities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, there have been a total of 382,818 suspected cases, but 338,914 of them have not been confirmed.
