Theater piece had been in the director’s closet for 25 years, now theater circle De Waag is on stage with it – Goeiedag

The piece De Doodskopvlinder will premiere on Friday evening in GC Warande in Liedekerke. After three postponements, theater group De Waag presents the play, directed by Edwin Vandermeeren.

After more than 25 rehearsals, the actors of theater group De Waag are ready for the grand premiere of De Doodskopvlinder. The play has already been postponed three times, which means that the enthusiasm of the actors, crew and director is even greater. For director Edwin Vandermeeren there is even an extra motivation. “I myself come from Lembeek where I played for years and later also directed at De Linde. But as an actor and director I also went to other places, such as De Courageous Warriors Essenbeek, Weredi Lot, De Paradijsvogels Moerbeke, Kabuiz, and so on. 25 years ago, at the defunct ACTA Sint-Rochus Halle, we briefly witnessed the performance of De Doodskopvlinder, a play by Frans Cools. However, due to circumstances, this production was canceled,” says the director.

When Edwin was asked five years ago by theater circle De Waag from Liedekerke, he didn’t have to hesitate for long. “One of the pieces for which they were looking for a director was the beautiful drama De Doodskopvlinder. I am therefore very grateful to De Waag for being able to realize this masterpiece with this top team. The fact that I wanted to play the piece myself 25 years ago, but which never happened due to circumstances, is an extra pigment that makes this production unique for me.”
The piece will premiere on Friday 20 January at 8 pm in GC Warande in Liedekerke and will be played afterwards on 21, 22, 25, 27 and 28 January. Tickets can be reserved via the De Waag website or by telephone.
