The year that did not happen. Photo memories of the Glastonbury Festival

Music, sports, concerts, festivals, competitions, Olympics. It is only a small part of everything that was supposed to happen this year, but nature acted differently. This year, none of that. A year when nothing happens.

It was during the summer solstice that this year there was no music event, an event that almost every year at this time brings together world music legends and lights, just good and talented people from all over the world. Gather in a place whose energy stands above all the imaginary and imaginary worthlessness of people, where it is irrelevant where you are from, what language they speak, how dark you are sunbathing, or how white you are born. In a place where everything has one added value – music.

Glastonbury Festival

For me, as for everyone, my plans and dreams for this summer were changed and it was already clear in March that there would be no planned trip to Glastonbury this year. Of course, in recent months, completely different thoughts have taken over the minds of the world, but time has not stopped. The earth is spinning, the sun is shining, humans are very adaptable creatures, and now we are behaving and thinking differently than in March.

On days like this, when you had to be there and not here, then of course there are questions – why? But in nature, everything happens the way it should. If someone does something wrong, but we humans cannot say that we are guardians of our nature, then this is what happens. And the conclusion is that nature can do very well without the actions of our intelligent beings, but we are forced to choose either to submit or to disappear … This time nature only warned us.

It’s been three years since I had the opportunity to be at the Glastonbury Festival and take photos there. And just these days, because when it’s time, it’s time to just review the Glastonbury photos of that day, remember and try to experience what’s happening only at the Glastonbury Festival.

I wasn’t trying to make a thematic story about something. This is a photo story about the time spent and seen in Glastonbury in those days, exactly three years ago. Everyone saw something different in those five days, but I saw it this way.

Glastonbury is music. These are people. It is a feeling of togetherness like nowhere else. It is the energy at every stage, big or small, in every place during the whole festival. And, of course, special is the musical shrine – “Pyramid Stage”. The main stage of the festival, on which no one other than Sir Paul McCartney would have performed this year. I can’t imagine what it could have been like when he performed “Hey Jude” or “Yesterday” … and a hundred thousand choir song. The hope that it will one day be alive.

I am aware that so many photos per event do not need to be shown. But this time I chose a bad exception and did so. It is possible that someone will not address any of the pictures, maybe someone will make a firm commitment to be there themselves. Needless to say, it is not possible that those who get there are only a small, small part of those who want it. Yes, it is, but anything is possible in the world.

People change, habits change, but looking at another year, even a decade-old Glastonbury photo, nothing seems to change there. As it all started 50 years ago with one pound and free milk, it still continues. Will it continue? Stupid question.
