The world leader in chainsaws Stihl is moving to Switzerland. It is expensive in Germany – 2024-02-23 07:57:11

The world market leader for chain saws Stihl (Style) from Weiblingen near Stuttgart is considering moving its production to Switzerland. It is too expensive for him in Germany.

Stihl has postponed plans for a new plant in Ludwigsburg, BW24 reports. A location in Switzerland is currently being explored. The chairman of the advisory board and the supervisory board, Nicolas Stiel, warned months ago that Germany was no longer competitive as a location.

Nicolas Stiel has little hope for Germany as an industrial location, he says in an interview with Handelsblatt. The entrepreneur does not expect a big explosion that will cause the collapse of the economy in Germany in one fell swoop.

“But investments that used to flow to Germany are now increasingly going to Eastern Europe, the US or Asia.”

Switzerland is considered a country with absolute high prices. A few years ago, no one would have thought it possible that production could still be done cheaper in Germany’s neighboring country.

Supervisory board chairman Nicolas Stiel says Switzerland has lower overall costs than Germany despite higher wages. Higher duties, taxes and energy costs in Germany are to blame – manufacturing in Switzerland is now cheaper.

Several entrepreneurs who are members of the Family Business Foundation recently approached politicians with an appeal to the federal government.

But the economic crisis continues: German companies are laying off thousands of employees and going abroad. For example, the traditional manufacturer Miele is moving parts of its production to Poland.
