Leader of the Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Club in Washington Bradley Bale has not yet decided on its future this season, said the athlete in a conversation with ESPN.
It has already been reported that due to the spread of the coronavirus Covid-19, the NBA championship was suspended in mid-March, when Utah Jazz basketball player Rudy Gober was diagnosed with the disease. The NBA has repeatedly expressed a desire to find out the champions and plans to resume the season on July 31 at Disneyland in Orlando.
Players have the right to refuse to participate in the continuation of the season without any penalties. Some of the NBA’s dark-skinned players plan to skip the rest in protest of racism, while other basketball players do so for other reasons. Latvian Dāvis Bertāns from “Wizards” became the first basketball player to officially declare not to play.
The main reason for not playing for a Latvian is that after this season he will be an unrestricted free agent and is going to sign his biggest contract in his career. It should be noted that this was Bertan’s most successful season in the NBA, as well as he has twice had a broken knee ligament. It is significant that the choice of the Latvian was supported by the general manager of “Wizards” Tomijs Šepards.
However, the Washington club risks losing not only one of the NBA’s most accurate long-range performers, but also the leader Bill, who has not yet made a decision. Currently, the basketball player conducts training and evaluates all the pros and cons.

If Bill does not play in the continuation of the season, then the Wizards’ already slim chances of entering the play-off tournament will rapidly decrease. The championship will resume with eight games, the results of which will be added to the overall standings of the regular tournament. Wizards currently ranks ninth in the East with a 37.5% victory, while Orlando Magic, which ranks eighth, is 46.2%.
Bill averaged 30.5 points this season and made 6.1 assists. Despite impressive statistics, the basketball player was not selected to participate in the NBA All-Star Game.
Meanwhile, this season Bertāns has thrown 200 long shots (seventh indicator in the league) out of 472 and realized them with 42.4% accuracy (seventh indicator in the league). If only those players who take at least eight long shots on average in the match are taken into account, then Bertan is the second most accurate thrower in the NBA after Duncan Robinson (44.8%).
He also stood out with an average of 15.4 points, making him the second best winner in the Washington Club. In turn, with 42.4% of long shots, he is one of the best in the NBA in this respect. Bertan also added 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Dāvis also made his debut this season at the NBA Star Weekend, where he participated in a three-point throw-in contest and won third place.
