The wine festival in Hradiště attracted 30,000 people. That’s how they enjoyed it

Already on Friday evening, the event was ceremoniously opened by the ceremony of the European Heritage Days, which was also attended by the Minister of Culture Lubomír Zaorálek. After the next performance of the Army Art Ensemble Ondráš, the program continued on Saturday morning with a ceremonial procession of almost three thousand costumes from Vinohradská Street to the city center. Children, adults, folklorists, musicians, dancers, singers and ordinary ethnographers set out on a traditional two-kilometer march to Masaryk Square.

“I estimate that from Friday to Sunday, a total of twenty-five to thirty thousand visitors took part in this event in Uherské Hradiště. I expected a much smaller number of them, for example, that people will be afraid, or that they will be discouraged by hygienic measures, but it is clear that they are hungry for culture, people want to have fun, that they are looking forward and I personally am glad that the atmosphere on festivities, the special symbiosis between participants and visitors works, even that the weather was good, “said Antonín Mach, the main organizer of the event, director of the Uherské Hradiště Culture Club.

The participants of the parade were greeted under the podium on Masaryk Square by the mayor of Hradiště, Stanislav Blaha, dressed in his Maratice costume and with a glass of wine in his hand. “It’s nice to see how cool people are here. I would like to have a drink with anyone who stops here for me, “said the mayor.

There was a wine tent and a fair with dozens of stalls with products of folk artists on Masaryk Square. From the parade, its participants moved to urban locations in the center of Hradiště, where the individual micro-regions had a program prepared in the afternoon.

There were also, for example, boat trips on the Baťa Canal with the bands Děvčice and Venca´s Group, the show Slovácká křídlovka or wandering through Vinohradská Street. “I came with a friend from Vlčnov and I must say that I had no idea how large crowds of people I would meet in Vinohradská Street,” said Ivo Zemek from Brno.

On Sunday, the folklore marathon in the metropolis of Slovácko continued again with a fair and an open wine tent on Masaryk Square. Other programs were dominated by a concert by Hradišťan in the Church of the Annunciation, a costume show in the Dormitory Courtyard, and a show of regional wines in Reduta.

“We are proud that it was attended by truly top wineries, whose wines collect medals in many domestic and foreign competitions,” said Antonín Mach.

Stanislav Blaha described this year’s Slovácko Wine and Open Monuments Festival as exceptional.

“I want to thank everyone who took part in them in any way, because it was because of them that the festivities could have taken place at this difficult time. I thank people for their understanding. Thanks, of course, to all participants, municipalities and their mayors, performing ensembles and individuals, and of course to all organizers and owners of monuments for their extraordinary and admirable approach, “said the mayor of Uherské Hradiště.
