The wheel keeps turning: VivaAerobus received its first Airbus A321neo

Despite the historical negative context that commercial aviation is experiencing worldwide, the industry continues with many of its plans thanks to its characteristic resilience. Because you can take one, two, three or five steps back, but in the end they will only serve to take more career.

This is the case of VivaAerobus, which today received its first Airbus A321neo. The low cost had placed in 2013 an order for 52 A320 family aircraft, which was expanded in 2017 with an additional 25 A321neo.

Currently the airline’s fleet comprises a total of 18 A320 and 19 A320neo, to which is added the new A321neo.

As we reported in April, VivaAerobus configured 10 of its aircraft in a cargo format to help Mexico’s efforts against COVID-19. They also launched a campaign to transport medical professionals free of charge.

From Airbus they also highlighted that their team has joined through different actions. In Mexico they produced face shields for the Armed Forces, while in Brazil engineers at Helibras, a local helicopter subsidiary, designed face shields using 3D printing, which were donated to a local hospital.

The fleet of Latin American airlines includes around 700 Airbus aircraft, which represents 59% of the total. Since 1994 the European manufacturer has captured 70% of the region’s net orders.
