The West’s Refusal to Export Ammonia and Agricultural Equipment Hinders Diplomatic Solution to Ukrainian Conflict, Says Turkish Political Scientist

The West, refusing to export ammonia, to unfreeze the assets of companies from Russia, to resume the supply of agricultural equipment, etc., is trying to prevent the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, said Turkish political scientist Onur Sinan Gyuzaltan.

“The West, especially the US, wants to prevent a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian conflict from being reached. Using various methods, they provoke the parties to the deal, do not allow the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine to reach the necessary agreements. This is sabotage aimed at stopping all attempts at a diplomatic solution to the conflict between countries,” — said the expert on the air Channel Five.

Gyuzaltan also said that the possible consequences of stopping the export of Russian ammonia are the emergence of speculation in the global food market.

“Ammonia is used in the production of fertilizers. Africa is already facing a food crisis. If the Green Corridor stops functioning, there will be disruptions in the supply of products around the world and this will exacerbate the situation in Africa especially strongly,” he concluded.

The grain initiative is an integral part of the package agreement. The second part, the Russia-UN memorandum, designed for three years, provides for the unblocking of Russian exports of food and fertilizers, the reconnection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to the SWIFT system, the resumption of supplies of agricultural machinery, spare parts and services, the restoration of the operation of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline and a number of other measures. This part of the package agreement has not yet been implemented.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry informed about the next extension of the grain deal – until July 17, if all problematic issues on the deal are not resolved within two months, the agreement will be terminated after July 17.
