Big party in St. Petersburg for the marriage of the Granduca George Mikhailovich Romanov, heir (disputed, due to family disagreements) to the throne of the tsars, and of Rebecca Bettarini. A very Italian bride, daughter of a diplomat, born in Rome but a citizen of the world. The most prestigious schools on the planet and an international career meant that Rebecca could attend the elite of nobility and entrepreneurship.
The origins of a love
Rebecca Bettarini and the Grand Duke George they have been friends since childhood, they met thanks to the aristocratic parties organized around Europe. However, the spark struck years later in Belgium. Finally, last weekend a wedding event was staged like nothing had been seen in Russia for a hundred years. For love she changed her religion (now she is Orthodox) and even her name, now she will be called Victoria Romanova. Their relationship is also intertwined with work, the two manage the Russian Imperial Foundation, an association active on several charity fronts.
Marriage with controversy
In St. Isaac’s Cathedral, a Grand Duke George visibly moved he waited Rebecca Bettarini, in front of fifty crowned heads (there were also the Savoia) and particularly influential Russian billionaires. The symbolism of jewels

The tiara of Chaumet (the official supplier of Giuseppina Bonaparte, first wife of Napoleon) is inspired by the chicken coop, the traditional Russian headdress. Four hundred diamonds set in the crown, which will now be exhibited in a museum. The dangling earrings were instead lent by the jeweler Chamovskikh: “For me it was important to show Russian manufacturing to the international public,” said Bettarini.
