According to Marc Van Ranst, who agrees with the recommendations of the Superior Health Council, air conditioning plays an important role in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and the summer temperatures that currently affect Belgium. “Our country will also have to focus on very good ventilation of the interior spaces where many people are gathered. In this way, we can avoid an increase in the concentration of viral particles and therefore a higher risk of infection.
Explains the virologist on Twitter.
The expert nevertheless warns against the appearance of new outbreaks: “Cool areas, such as cold rooms in supermarkets or slaughterhouses, are sometimes less well ventilated and recycle too much air. In this way, there is a risk of seeing large foci of contamination appear ”.
But then, how can we avoid a situation like that of our German neighbors? By checking the ventilation of the buildings or simply by opening the windows, answers Marc Van Ranst.
