The Ministry of València will put approved screens in taxis after police complaints

The Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility will collaborate with the taxi sector to guarantee the installation of “protection partitions in vehicles, which comply with the necessary guarantees”.

The measures have been agreed with the aim of improving prevention and increasing the safety of professionals and clients against the spread of the coronavirus.

The taxi drivers of the Valencian Community denounced that the agents were forcing them to remove them from their taxis for not complying with the regulations. “They don’t fine us, but they force us to remove them,” said Ismael Arráez, president of the Gremial del Taxi association.

Minister Arcadi Spain assured yesterday that “this measure aims to increase vehicle safety in order to regain customer confidence and thus help restore the situation in the sector, which has registered a decrease in activity of over 80% as a consequence of this health crisis ».

Likewise, with the aim of increasing the protection of the sector, the Ministry “will continue to provide individual disinfectant masks, gloves and gels to all professionals who so wish.”

The Generalitat distributed a total of 40,000 protection masks, 40,000 gloves and 40,000 units of disinfecting gel to carriers, taxi drivers, VTC personnel, workers of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, bus dealers and home delivery companies.
