The vaccination mandate in New York City, United States, took effect on Tuesday, and requires anyone over the age of 12 who enters restaurants, gyms, entertainment venues, and other businesses to show proof of COVID vaccination. -19.
The city’s website explains that people can use the vaccination record from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC)., New York State Excelsior Pass, or NYC COVID Safe smartphone app for trial. A photograph of the vaccination card issued by the CDC will also be accepted.
City officials say that while the rule went into effect Tuesday, it won’t be enforced until Sept. 13. After that time, companies that fail to comply will be subject to fines.

In comments to reporters Tuesday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said most restaurants and entertainment venues support the new rules and want their customers and staff to be safe.
But the owner of a restaurant told the newspaper New York Post that he would not comply with the new rules because he sees them as discriminatory against the unvaccinated. On Monday, a group of Republican leaders held a rally to protest the mandate.
Across the United States, however, the idea is gathering momentum. Since New York City announced its mandate, the first major city in the United States to do so, New Orleans and San Francisco announced similar plans, and Los Angeles is considering similar measures.
