The US is getting anxious, now “forcing” Zelensky to negotiate with Putin

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – United States (US) officials reportedly issued special warnings for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia immediately.

This is due to the previous statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he did not want to negotiate with Moscow if it was still headed by President Vladimir Putin.

Washington said that if Kiev did not negotiate, the phenomenon of “Ukraine fatigue” experienced by the United States and its allies would get worse. US allies are increasingly concerned about the economic impact of a protracted war.

“Ukraine’s fatigue is a real thing for some of our partners,” a US official said Washington Postquoted The GuardianMonday (7/11/2022).

Meanwhile, the United States has publicly promised to support Kiev with substantial aid for as long as necessary, hoping for a solution to the eight-month conflict that cost the economy and a potential nuclear war.

The White House National Security Council did not immediately comment when asked if the report was accurate. On the other hand, a State Department spokesperson responded by saying that Russia must immediately stop attacking Ukraine if it wants dialogue.

“We have said it before and we will say it again: actions speak louder than words. If Russia is ready to negotiate, Russia must stop its bombs and missiles and withdraw its troops from Ukraine.”

Previously, Washington was rumored to have begun to have heated relations with Kiev. This is because US President Joe Biden felt that Zelensky was ungrateful for the assistance he had provided up to that point.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Biden had just finished informing Zelensky of another $ 1 billion US military aid granted to Ukraine. But Zelensky started listing all the additional help he needed and didn’t get.

On the other hand, Uncle Sam’s country described his exhaustion due to the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war. National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby also said on Wednesday that the United States was concerned about Iran and North Korea’s assistance to Russia in its war in Ukraine.

“Pyongyang is secretly supplying large quantities of artillery shells for Russia’s war in Ukraine, obscuring shipments, making it appear that they are going to countries in the Middle East and North Africa,” Newsweek said.

The Russian-Ukrainian war itself has been going on for 8 months since it began on February 24, 2022. The United States has also given aid of up to trillions of rupees to help Ukraine which had been attacked by Putin’s troops.

Putin himself said that the reason he attacked Ukraine was to liberate the Donbass region from the ultranationalist Kiev regime that persecutes ethnic Russians. Furthermore, this attack is used to restrain Ukraine from joining the US-led military alliance, NATO.
