Those were difficult times, her father believes, but adds that the custody decision was the right one, even if it affects his relationship with his daughter.

“Not everyone will agree with me… It’s been a hell of a time.

But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul.

Where would Britney be now without that tutelage? I don’t know if she would even be alive. I don’t know. To protect her and her children as well, guardianship was an excellent tool. Without it, I don’t think she would have gotten them back,” Spears is sure.

During the court proceedings that decided to revoke the guardianship, Spears’ lawyers stressed that it was “necessary to protect Britney in every sense of the word”. “Her life was on the brink of collapse and she was suffering physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.”

“My understanding of guardianship is to help someone get their life back and get back into society and live a normal life. I want to believe that I made a difference. I had people behind me that really helped get it to a point where we could help her,” Spears says.
