The Trois-Rivières Aigles Look to Continue Winning Streak Against Capitals and Boulders

The Trois-Rivières Aigles, who avoided the sweep Sunday with an 8-5 win, have an appointment in Quebec to play a three-game series, then in New York next weekend.

The Eagles’ week had started well with a sweep against the Empire State Greys, a team that will be back in Trois-Rivières from August 7 to 10 for a four-game series.

It won’t be an easy week for Matthew Rusch’s men. The Caps have 40 banked wins and are battling for first place in the East Division. As for the Boulders, they still hope to qualify for the big fall dance.

In the last game of their series yesterday, Osman Gutierrez held his team in the game for 7 1/3 innings, despite 5 runs allowed. True to form, he totaled 10 strikeouts.

Trois-Rivières won thanks to a 5-point push in the 7th inning, all scored on productive singles from Steve Brown, Ricardo Sanchez, Victor Cerny, Austin Markmann and Tyler Clark-Chiapparelli. The latter also finished his afternoon of work with 3 RBIs.

The first game against the Capitals will begin at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
