The tracks have the first new type of bistro truck. There has been criticism, the kitchen will be at the end of the car

Czech Railways has given way to criticism of passengers and staff, and has changed the internal layout of other bistro cars.

The Czech Railways subsidiary DPOV has completed a prototype of the modernized ARmpee 832 bistro wagon.

Original modernization aroused great criticism last year from passengers and crew of Czech Railways trains. The new type will have a larger Class 1 partition than the existing one.

Czech Railways will thus have two types of modernized ARmpee cars in its fleet. There will be more of those who received great criticism at the beginning: a total of 18, these are ARmpee 829 cars. According to Czech Railways spokeswoman Gabriela Novotná, however, the comments have already disappeared. “After the initial wave of discussions, we no longer register any comments on the arrangement of these cars“Novotná said. According to her, no further changes are planned in the modernized wagons.

DPOV is currently modernizing 6 cars. “In these cars, the background of the bistro section is on the edge of the car, so all 1st class seats will be in one section and not divided as in the case of ARmpee 829 cars, where there is a kitchen in the middle of the car.” said Novotna. The cars are in the Bohumín depot, they serve lines from the Ostrava region to Prague. “The first prototype car ARmpee 832 (No. 002) is about to be handed over. The approval is currently underway at the Railway Authority,“Novotná added. The modernization will take place gradually until 2022.

Last year, Czech Railways faced great criticism for arranging new modernized bistro trucks. 2nd class passengers forbade them to sit down, forcing them to take food only with them. In the end, Czech Railways slightly changed the rules, reserving part of the first class for hungry and thirsty clients from the 2nd class.
