Supreme Judge Eddy Army judged Djoko Tjandra deserves to be released because what he did was a civil case. However, the other four Supreme Court justices argued otherwise, so Djoko Tjandra was still sentenced to 2 years in prison in the Rp 546 billion corruption case.
“Against this decision, one of the member judges filed a dissenting opinion (DO), namely Eddy Army, who believes that the reason for the convict’s PK is sufficient according to law to be granted as the first instance court decision,” said Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau, MA Sobandi.
The verdict of the first instance referred to is the decision of the South Jakarta District Court, which acquitted Djoko Tjandra on August 28, 2000. However, the Supreme Court judge Eddy Army lost to four other justices, namely Andi Samsan Nganro, Suhadi, Prof Surya Jaya, and Sri Murwahyuni, so that PK Djoko Tjandra was not accepted.
Who is Eddy Army?
Eddy is a career judge. He started as a supreme judge after being elected by the DPR in 2013 by getting 35 votes from members of Commission III of the DPR. During his 9 years as a supreme judge, Eddy’s hammer was pounded in various cases. From drug cases to corruption.
Like when with the Supreme Court Justice Suhadi, the Eddy Army circumcised the sentence of former Talaud Islands Regent Sri Wahyumi Manalip from 4.5 years in prison to 2 years in prison. The reason is that the evidence of bribery from the briber has not yet reached Sri because it has been secured by the KPK in the OTT.
“It turns out that the Petitioner for Judicial Review/Convicted has not received these items at all. Let alone received them, it turns out that the Petitioner for Judicial Review/Convicted has never seen these items, because Bernard Hanafi Kalalo and Benhur Laenoh first handed over the said items. KPK officers have been arrested at the Mercure Hotel Jakarta,” said the PK assembly chaired by Suhadi with members of the Eddy Army and M Askin.
Eddy Army also circumcised Agung Sains Mangkunegara’s sentence from 7 years in prison to 5 years in prison. The former regent of North Lampung was proven guilty of corruption in the Rp 63 billion project.
“The convict Agung Sains Mangkunegara has been sentenced to 5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 750 million, subsidiary to 8 months in prison,” said MA spokesman Andi Samsan Nganro.
The circumcision was knocked down by Eddy along with Burhan Dahlan and Agus Yunianto. Burhan Dahlan is a military judge with the last rank of major general.
“Imposed an additional penalty to Agung Sains Mangkunegara to pay a replacement money of Rp 63.4 billion,” said the panel of judges.
