For 18 months, the engineers were on their heads. They did not know what exactly was happening. When the technicians arrived, everything worked perfectly. However, the next day it was exactly the same.

Finally, the British network operator Openreach, decided to send its chief engineer, Michael Jones, into town at the fateful hour for the Internet. They were sure there must be a REIN problem, a type of interference that affects broadband performance due to frequencies generated by a nearby power source.

“Using a device called Spectrum analyzerWe walked through town in pouring rain at 6am to see if we could find an ‘electrical noise’ to support our theory. And at 7 in the morning, like clockwork, it happened! Our device picked up a large burst of electrical interference in the town, ”Jones explained.
Maybe the company could have bought them a new TV
They traced the signal to a neighbor’s house, where they checked what the power source was that was generating the whole problem: an old television, bought second-hand, able to eliminate the broadband of the whole town.
“As you can imagine when we pointed this out to the residents, they were mortified that their old second-hand television was the cause of the broadband problems of an entire town, and they immediately agreed to turn it off and not use it again,” said the engineer . Happy ending? Perhaps the company could have bought them a new TV.
