The hotel, hospitality and cruise tourism sectors value the improvements that the Alicante City Council plans to introduce in the management and offer of tourist services at the Castle of Santa Bárbara.
The main entities that bring together these sectors, in addition to tourist apartments and leisure venues, believe that the measures proposed by the Department will serve to enhance this emblematic enclave. Measures such as improving access to the fortress, extending hours or diversifying its range of services, with dramatized visits and even holding events.
For this reason, they have signed a joint statement in support of this initiative which, they consider, will enhance the offer and the tourist attraction of the city. In fact, the president of the Association for Cruise Tourism, Francesco Balbi, explains in Hoy por Hoy Alicante that the main excursion that cruise passengers demand is to the fortress.
Castillo San Fernando closed
And precisely, also on tourist heritage, but in this case the castle of San Fernando. Compromís criticizes that access to the fortress remains closed, despite the fact that its works ended almost a year ago.
They recall that the rehabilitation was done with European funds, but that the public still cannot enjoy this public space. Its councilor, Rafa Mas, also criticizes that there is no prior sign that warns that the castle is closed.
