Torch bearers could approach the Château de Mirville where Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympics, lived. The path of the flame should be known in June 2023.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday 16 November by the president of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tony Estanguet and by the president of the Seine-Maritime Department, Bertrand Bellanger. The Olympic flame will spend a day in the Seine-Maritime department before reaching Paris in July 2024.
For the moment, the details of the route are not yet known but the organizers want to do”a festive and popular moment“intended”enhance places symbols related to sport and olympism” in the department. The torchbearers could thus pass close to the Château de Mirville, near Bolbec, where Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, spent his childhood.

The Seine-Maritime department is one of around sixty volunteer departments ready to it will host the Olympic torch relay in 2024. It will have to pay 150,000 euros excluding taxes. A sum deemed excessive by Department of the Orne which has already refused this passage.
